I managed to catch Oprah's talkshow yesterday (finnally), and it got me thinking why do people like to watch this so much? To me, I look forward to every episode that I can catch, its almost addictive.why? Then I realized its because she always provides something new and exciting, be it solutions for a good cause, an interview with a celebrity or to just talk (intellectually of course) about some topic. It gets your mind stimulating, and it gets you more aware about people around the globe.
Yesterday's show was one from 2004 I think, publicizing her bookclub, but it was my first time watching it. They were featuring "Anna Karenina" by Leo Tolstoy and it seems pretty good.

Amazon.com
Some people say Anna Karenina is the single greatest novel ever written, which makes about as much sense to me as trying to determine the world's greatest color. But there is no doubt that Anna Karenina, generally considered Tolstoy's best book, is definitely one ripping great read. Anna, miserable in her loveless marriage, does the barely thinkable and succumbs to her desires for the dashing Vronsky. I don't want to give away the ending, but I will say that 19th-century Russia doesn't take well to that sort of thing.

About the Author
Leo Tolstoy (1828-1910) wrote two of Russia's greatest novels, War and Peace (1869) and Anna Karenina (1877), as well as many short stories and essays.

I want to get this book, and I'd join the bookclub because it seems to reccomend good books every now and then, but I don't have the time to read along with Oprah since my exams are well under way :(
